The Saint Myth: Why Vitality-type Saints Have to Re-Gear
Experiment on Healing Relic (February 9, 2014)
Myths have always existed in Dragon Nest. Since a game runs mainly on the amount of adventure it could provide, game makers often leave a vague trail of breadcrumbs which people insist to follow and makers insist to ignore. In Dragon Nest, one of the more famous arguments lie on whether Saints should better go for Intellect or Vitality pumps. So one boring February afternoon, Elric and I decided to test the theories and put the myths to rest.
User:
Zaphariel (w/ROB): 424152HP; 25365 - 31302 Magic Attack
Target:
Diviner11 (w/o ROB): 488316HP; 16190 - 19679 Magic Attack
Gilthionel (w/ ROB): 303689HP;
Legend:
Original HP of Target - RED
HP of Target After Heal - GREEN
Total Amount of HP Healed - VIOLET
A. Healing Relic: No Buffs
58096 -> 231188 = 173092
B. Healing Relic: Blessing of Life on User; not on Relic
58096 -> 228107 = 170011
C. Healing Relic: Blessing of Life on User and Relic
58096 -> 232894 = 174798
D. Healing Relic: Striking on User; none on Relic
58096 -> 249335 = 191239
E. Healing Relic: Striking on User and
58096 -> 274031 = 215935
F. Healing Relic: Aura Restoration on User; none on Relic
58096 -> 281795 = 223699
G. Healing Relic: Aura Restoration on User and on Relic
58096 -> 276659 = 218563
H. Healing Relic: Healing Relic with Spirit Boost
61438 -> 190448 = 129010
61438 -> 235132 = 173694
I. Healing Relic: Aura Restoration on User only
53791 -> 224157 = 170366
J. Healing Relic: Aura Restoration on User and Target
53791 -> 277407 = 223616
K.1. Heal (Zaphariel's Skill): HP of User or Target?
58096 -> 159072 = 100976
K.2. Heal (Diviner11's Skill) without Buff
58096 -> 159072 = 100976
---
Conclusion:
1. Light buff (Blessing of Light, Cure Relic Norm/EX, Conviction Aura) has no effect on the heals of any Healing Relic
2. Striking Affects Healing Relic so it is better to buff Healing Relics on the Field for better heals
3. Aura Restoration does not affect the heals of Healing Relic; it is better to use Aura Restoration BEFORE casting Healing Relic to maximize the effect
4. The waves of Healing Relic are not affected by an Acrobat's Spirit Boost. There will always be 4 waves with or without Spirit Boost. The speed of the waves being affected by Spirit Boost is another issue to be tested.
5. Aura Restoration is maximized when used on both User and Target, since both characters receive the 30% increase in heals. The user should then cast the buff on all possible targets first before healing.
6. Heal is based on the Target's HP, and not the user's HP.
Therefore, it is best for priests then to maximize their INT and Magic Attack for even better heals.
